BANANARAMA GET READY FOR EDINBURGH IN 2018

BANANARAMA plan to be Queens of Edinburgh Castle as they take to the stage in Scotland next year.

Friday July 20 will see the trio of Sara, Keren and Siobhan play the capital for the very first time of their careers.

The eighties hit making gals have 30 chart hits and combined sales of over 40 million, making them  the most successful female group of all time in the Guinness Book of Records.

Their string of classics include Robert de Niro’s Waiting, Cruel Summer, Venus, Shy Boy and Love In the First Degree.

Mark Mackie, director of Castle Concerts said: “We are delighted to have Bananarama play Edinburgh Castle this summer. Without doubt, they are one of the greatest girl groups and the atmosphere on the night will be truly electrifying.”

Earlier this year, the girl group that defined the 80s announced they were back to their original, record-breaking line up for a tour of the UK. The news of their reunion was met with universal approval from the media and public. The original tour dates sold out instantly and further dates were added to extend the winter tour.

Keren said: “We’ve had the best time touring this year and can’t wait to take our show back out on the road again in 2018.”

Sara added: “Scottish audiences are always fantastic. As the original line up, we’re really excited to play Edinburgh for the first time ever!”

And Siobhan said: “We perform all our hits and we’re really looking forward to taking our live show outdoors. I’m sure the atmosphere is going to be electric at Edinburgh Castle.”

Nick Finnigan, Executive Manager at Edinburgh Castle said: “Bananarama are real pop legends. We’re really looking forward to welcoming them here at the Castle for what’s sure to be a special evening.”

Since their unforgettable last performance as a trio at The Brits in 1988, Keren and Sara have continued as Bananarama, releasing records and touring to global audiences. Siobhan went on to have hit singles and albums around the world as part of Shakespeare’s Sister before becoming a solo artist.
