Putting on a panto that pleases both adults and children can be a tall order, particularly where Beanstalks are concerned, but the great folks at the SEC Armadillo have managed to do just that with help from Scotland’s hottest talents.
Greg McHugh aka Gary Tank Commander already comes with a calibre of wit and cheese that makes him top of the military and civil ranks, but for many, The Dolls are a new experience.
Having championed them since the early stages of their career, theshowbizlion.com thinks it brilliant to see Gayle Telfer Stevens and Louise McCarthy tread the boards of this years Jack in the Beanstalk, giving panto staples like the ugly sisters and dames a real run for their money.
Offering up seaside postcard style humour which is cleaner than their normal stage show (no expletives here) the impressive dolly duo still managed to get us laughing into our ice cream tubs with their friendly patter.
Gar-eh, a household telly face, showed off his brilliant improvisation skills, impressive singing voice, and a lovely warming side to him that only a live production can highlight.
There are political gags about Sturgeon, Davidson et al, as well as innuendos galore that continue on from where the Krankies left us.
And we reckon, that as the production runs, there will be even more laughs and corpsing between the different characters that come from on the night mistakes.
The 3-D effects and supporting artists finish off this production making it a must see for anyone wanting to get into the real Christmas spirit.
